Audi plays in world-class golf
UniCredit Ladies German Open tees off on May 13, 2010
Audi will be Presenting Sponsor and vehicle partner for the third time
A5 Cabriolet for the winner and R8 Spyder as hole-in-one prize
After just two editions the Ladies German Open on the outskirts of Munich has acquired an outstanding reputation and established itself on the calendars of the world’s best female golf pros. When the tournament is staged at Gut Häusern from May 13 to 16 for the third time, Audi will also be on the green again as Presenting Sponsor and vehicle partner.
126 players have announced their participation in the Ladies European Tour (LET) visit in spring. At Golfpark Gut Häusern, just 50 kilometers from Munich’s city limits, they will compete for points in the standings and 330,000 euros of prize money. Audi provides a special incentive: the winner of the tournament will receive an Audi A5 Cabriolet. And the golfer who achieves a hole-in-one at the 15th hole will this year be rewarded with an attractive Audi R8 Spyder which Audi will make available to her.
But this will not be the only opportunity to get in close touch with an Audi: 25 shuttle vehicles emblazoned with the Four Rings will take players, officials and VIP guests to the edge of the green. And to ten selected players Audi will again make Audi A3 Cabriolets available during the week of the tournament. In addition, Audi will again present some highlights from the current model range at the Audi Terminal, which has evolved into an attractive meeting place for golfers and spectators in recent years. Articles from the exclusive Audi Golf collection will be offered there as well. The Four Rings as an element of the tournament logo as well as on display around the golf course complement AUDI AG’s commitment as Presenting Sponsor.
“Through the first two editions of the tournament the Ladies German Open has already achieved an excellent reputation in the world of golf and, in addition, has proved to be an absolute crowd-puller with impressive spectator turnouts,” says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Management Board for Marketing and Sales of AUDI AG. “We’re already looking forward to the new edition of the tournament marked by the Four Rings with thrilling sport, emotions galore and fascinating techniques displayed by the world’s best female players.”
The role as Presenting Sponsor at the UniCredit Ladies German Open is just one element of Audi’s extensive golf commitment which, in 2010, will be highlighted by the 20th anniversary of the Audi quattro Cup. In the past two decades, over a million amateur golfers have been playing for victory in national tournaments and at the world finale on the most beautiful golf courses around the globe. Besides the Audi Ladies Cup as the counterpart for female players, the partnerships with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung Business Golf Cup” and the German Golf Association (DGV) are again part of the program.
In addition, Audi is committed to the pursuit of the ambitious aim of hosting the 2018 Ryder Cup tournament in Germany for the first time since its inaugural event in 1927. Audi is supporting the bid by RC Deutschland GmbH with the facility of the Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds in Neuburg an der Donau for the world’s most prestigious golf tournament. Aside from Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, the Netherlands and Sweden are bidding to host the event. The final decision of the venue will be made during the course of 2011.
